Rico,
I do not have a different email for contacting the creator of the website. I too have tried to contact him and the email is filled. I suspect it has been bombarded by spam. Maintaining a website is very time consuming. Sometime he visits here. Perhaps you could post a question or an image for him to look at and comment on. I know very little about Benedict Studio, or metalware in general. I have noticed several pieces of Benedict on Ebay. Are these items the old and original, or are the pieces being reproduced?

dc77,
Each item whould need to be examined on it's own. I suspect most of what is marked Benedict is real. There were a few makers in the Syracuse and NY area that made similar type items in the same style. Onondaga Metal Shop, Benedict, Stickley and even perhaps craftsmen from this shop that made items for their homes or as gifts. Benedict made a variety of items and not all were handwrought. Craftsmen in Mexico are making reproductions as well of some of the larger trays. Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |
