Hi

At a recent antique show I purchased a very interesting hammered copper and mica desk lamp. The workmanship appears to be very good. For example, the hammer marks on the base of the lamp are precisely in line with each other as Roycroft was known to do. I've searched all the Roycroft catalogs and haven't found any lamps like this one. In one Stickly catalog reprint I have there is a lamp with a similarly shaped triangular top but the base is very different and the description of the lamp says that it used slag glass; not mica.

There is no maker's mark on the lamp and I'm hoping someone here with a broad knowledge of arts & crafts metalwork could identify the maker of the lamp or point me in the right direction to continue my research.

I posted a similar query to the Yahoo Roycroft group and the feeling there was that it definitely wasn't a Roycroft.

I've attached a low resolution picture of the lamp so it won't be a burden to people with slower connection speeds to download it.

Thanks in advance for the help

Jay

Thanks Todd. I've posted a message to the benedict studios web site to see if they recognixe it. Are there reprints of any of the catalogs available? I did some searches but couldn't find any.

Thanks again for the help!

Jay

Do you have a picture of the bottom? It could be Stickley Brothers. Regardless, it's very cool.

Hey I just was looking thru a old Craftsman auction catalog and found the same lamp listed as Benedict. So I hope this helps. Nice lamp by the way! Todd.

Yes, looks to be Benedict...Stickley Bros. would be partially hollow on the bottom.
