Hello bev, can you please post that pic again of that arts and crafts box that sold for 241.00 at auction. or you can e-mail it to me at rico5959@yahoo.com

Im starting a library of arts and crafts antiques.

Thanks, RiCO

Oh, and by the way the wrong pic was used in the editing on the piece you wrote.

Also, an auction is an event where people place bids on what they are willing to pay for an item.

On the subject of haggling. That depends on the condition of the piece, degree of craftsmanship supply and demand and the market of where the item is located.

You can expect to pay allot more at an antique mall in Chicago then in most places in the country because the demand is high here because of the restoration of arts and crafts homes and prairie architecture.

Here it is:

Sorry about that. We are winding up school and it's crazy. (We finished editing our term paper at 1:30 a.m.)

I looked through an online catalog of Roycroft ads and saw nothing like that box. I guess some bidders really wanted it.

From looking at other A & C boxes with lids, I bet that it was an ink well at one time. Here is an example selling on E-bay today.

The only way I find any deals these days is from antique dealers or flea markets where people neglect doing their homework on what they are selling. There isn't much furntiure left out there but I am finding metalwork and ceramics.

It's cheaper for me to buy antiques off of ebay and the internet in general because the cost of antiques like everything else in chicago is very expensive. Lots off time the items are defective and the sellers at the antique malls want full price and are only willing to take 10 or 20 percent off. Believe it or not people still buy those defective antiques I call junk.
For instance the other day I bought a brass tin container that held paper clips during 1917. On the market it's a 2 to a 5 dollar item, they wanted 15 dollars for it I bought it anyway because I liked it and thought it would make a great addition to my antique mission desk collection of arts and crafts desk accessories.
