Picked up this great vase yesterday. Very even hammering pattern, symetry is perfect - round is round, handles are mirror image of each other, form is quite nice with the fluted top, base spindle, good handles etc. The mark on the bottom is tricky. It looks like "TALLERES" on top and "CAM" in the triangle, but the first letter is not fully struck. Talleres is Spanish for workshop, so maybe its a Mexican piece, or form the Southwest and it was a shop that used a Spanish name. Re. CAM maybe something 'art metal' (?). Anybody with any ideas? Fred's a 'souwester' so maybe he can help.

Stonecat,
The piece is probably Mexican and the CAM is most likely the name of the shop. It has typical Mexican construction with the seam in the middle of the vessel. Long trip it had to Canada. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |
