Here is an image of 9 trays from various sources. I hope to add to this display in the future. If others find images of diffent designs post them or email them to me and I will recofigure them into this type of grouping.

There are two on eBay currently that have a "Mission Inn" logo.
Interestingly, out of the 9 above, only one appears to be in mint original condition/patina (the cattails comes a close second though). |

Jeremy,
I suspect a great many of the owners used them as ashtrays. The original laquer would have burned and discolored and then they might have removed the laquer to polish them. It is rare to find them in mint condition. One of the Mission Inn trays is being auctioned from here in Tucson and I suspect the trays will sell well because they are from the Inn. A pair of bookends from the Inn recently sold for over $900. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

How big are they? Are these trays the size of small ashtrays or are they fruit bowl size?
Nice collection. But where have found these treasures? I have found nothing in my searches from the fancy antique shops to the flea market ones crowded with nothing but junk. Bev. |

Bev, The trays show up often on ebay and I have seen them grouped in auction houses. It is getting harder to find treasures out there and they do still exist. Not all are signed with the Heintz Logo. Some are only marked with "Pat.Apd.For" or not marked at all. Often you might fined an unmarked item with "STERLING" stamped on the silver decoration.
Don, I posted a 4" tray in the chamberstick topic. When time allows I will move those images to this post. I even have smaller trays and will post them when I can find them. It is possible that I liquidated them in a moment of insanity. Most of the time I find nothing.... sigh. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

Another collage of trays.
Some of these are duplicates. It is hard to tell sometimes. This is fun and will provide folks with some reference. Many of these designs appear on othere Heintz items. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |
