Has anyone seen pieces by the Handicraft shop in Copper? Are Copper pieces by them rare? Most everything I have seen by them has been in Sterling.

Hi Terry and welcome to the forum. I suspect that most of the production out of the Handicraft shop was in sterling. I have seen copper items produced at the shop by Gebelein and I own a copper bowl by Gylenberg. Bowls and flatware seem to have been the mainstay of the metals shop. The shop was an incredible guild like experiment, bringing together craftsmen and women from varied cultures and providing them with a place to work and collaborate on pieces for sale.

We would love to see any item you might have from the shop.

Best,
Fred

Hi Fred. We have spoken before on smpub. I am asheland on there. It has been a while...

I actually do have a piece by George Gebelein from the Handicraft shop dated 1906. I will try to get some pictures up, I just don't have any at the moment...

Nice to see you here, Fred.
Take care,
Terry G.

Hi Terry,

Is the piece you have the same one the David Thomas was selling on the Gebelein website? I recall we spoke about that tray before. Good to have you as part of this group.

Best,
Fred

Hi Fred, Yes, you are correct. I think you may have seen it. If you happen to have the stock photo you are welcome to post it. I still plan to get some good shots of it sometime soon. If I remember correctly, Dave said he got this piece from Gebelein's grandson.

By the way, could you post a picture of that copper bowl you mentioned by Gyllenberg? I would very much like to see that.
Take care,
Terry G.

Fred, is that Gyllenberg bowl Handicraft shop, or from Gyllenberg's own shop?
