Hello Group,
I'm glad I found this forum. Loads of great information! I just bought this great copper bowl from a house call & found it in the basement. I was wondering If anyone was familar with the maker. It is unsigned but shows great detail & workmanship. At least I think so. All hand hammered with a fine patina. Large 11 1/2" Floraform bowl in shape of a water lily. Nicely perched on the rim is a frog. Any thoughts?

Your bowl is wonderful and I love the cast bronze frog that has been attached to the petal. The shape has a Marie Zimmermann look and yet I have never seen her use this exact design. Not all of her work was signed or this could be the work of someone inspired by her pieces. A large body of he work was recently auctioned. I do not have that catalogue though I believe it is still available for viewing on the internet. What are the dimensions of your bowl?

Hope this helps.

Hello Fred,
Thanks for the info. The bowl is 11 1/2" in diameter & 3" high. The frog is 1" long & 1/2" tall. I'm not familar with Marie Zimmermann. Is she well sought after? Could this be what I have heard called a "studio piece"? Or could this have been a production item? Do you know how I might see some of her work on the internet? I would love to see the auction piece. Thanks again, Jim

Jim,

The work of Marie Zimmerman is highly sought after and sell for large sums. I suggest to just Google her name and see what appears. There were several of her pieces on the auction block and most did well.
