Can anyone help me with a way to remove a dent from a copper lamp shade? I would tap it from the back but it is double walled and would require me to drill out the back which I could do but dont really want to. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!Todd.tdore@charter.net

Todd, can you send us an image of the underside and an imgage of the entire lamp? There might be a way of accessing the top portion of the shade.

Best,
Fred

Well I decided to just go for it! And I got it out to near perfection. I had to gain access on the backside which I did and I was able to get the dent out with a soft piece of wood dowel and a wooden hammer. I took my time and I am very happy with the results. Has anybody seen a lamp like this before? I have not. Thanks,Todd.

Todd,

Great job and this is a spectacular lamp. I'm guessing it is a Limbert piece from Holland, Michigan. Craftsmanship and hammer work are similar to Limbert lamps.

Congratulation on a great piece.

That is a beautiful lamp Todd. Congratulations on getting the dent out. If you are interested in learning more about coppersmithing, I can recommend the classes up at Roycroft in Buffalo. I've taken one class from Ron Vanostrand and another from Frank Glappa. I very much enjoyed both and have started doing some of my own work in copper.

Regards

Jay
