I was looking through Rago's upcoming auction and saw a lamp that has a base similar to an unsigned vase I have. On a previous thread here, it had been attributed to Wilcox. The auction listing says it is "Willocx," and there is a copy of an ad for Russian Copper lamps, etc. The shop was apparently in L.A. I have never heard of this maker, but since I am in San Diego and my vase is a dead ringer for the lamp base, aside from the foot, I think the mystery has finally been solved! Another weird coincidence: a shade exactly like the one in the auction was on Ebay a year or so ago; the person selling was in San Diego. I contacted them and went out to see it, taking my vase along in hopes of marrying the two into a lamp( since my vase had already been turned into one at some point ). The two looked great together, but I ended up losing the auction since it sold for almost a grand(!). At any rate, the lamp being offered at Rago looks just great and the quality of the craftsmanship is very good, I can attest to that personally. I will never sell my vase, and now I know who made it!

Could you possibly post an image of your vase for us to admire?

Is the Rago auction currently running?

Thanks,

Fred

The Rago Craftsman Auction is June 13 and the catalog can be viewed online at Ragoarts.com

One of the lots you might like Fred is #72 a Gus circular wall plaque #345, it's the same as the image for the metalware topic on this forum, the estimate is $10,000 to $15,000 you should be able to find that in the cushions of the couch no? There are quite a few nice copper lots this auction, past ones have been slim on them.

I posted it on another thread, which has been locked; otherwise, I would have just posted to that one.
