what kind os stone am I? how old I am? Do I have a story?

Can you help us out be letting us know what marks are inside the band of the ring? This may help us help you. It looks to be yellow and white gold with perhaps a nice topaz or smokey quartz.

It is truly a work of art. The inside only have a mark that says 18k. The stone itself is heavy. It is very unique because the stone sits a bit sideways. I'd appreciate it very much if someone can identify this beautiful piece of art.

From what I can tell of the construction it is a hand fabricated ring. Possibly custom designed for the specific stone. It is next to impossible to tell you more about who, where or even when it was made. 18K is a high grade of gold alloy. 75% of the weight of the metal is pure gold. Most of this quality work would also have a maker's mark. The absence of this mark makes it unlikely that we will ever know who made it.

I would suggest taking it to a jeweler who might be able to tell you what type of stone it is.

thank you very much...I will try to do that. My sister wants to sell it to ebay for just $20, I think it doesnt do justice to this beautiful ring and whoever the maker is. Its a pity that some people just cant see beauty in all forms sometimes

When you post, please stay within the boundaries of the Arts & Crafts movement (1880 to 1925 more or less) or within the framework of the philosophy. Ralph has a history that is on the forum that you might find interesting reading.

Also, please resize your images so they aren't quite so big. They take up a lot of space on the server, so I resized them. If don't know how to do it, shoot us an email and I'll provide a short "how to".

I am sure that being from the land down under you may not be informed or have the knowledge of what we are about in keeping the Arts and Crafts Movement alive.
If we were able to give you an answer on the ring as Fred stated we might be able to help you, however we have no way of locating said ring or be able to tell if it is in fact from that era.

Hello Friend,
There is a free resizing link that you might want to try and I will see if I can give you the link.
www.ulead.com It is a program that you can open it from your desktop and it will open to your documents. Then all you have to do is locate the picture from the browse, then click resize and it will show a box on the left side with the picture size for instance 14230 over 920.
You change the higher number by half and it should change your picture to less than 100kb.

Then you should be able to post it in most anywhere you choose.
