Hi, I'm new to this forum and to the interest in the Arts & Crafts period. I read the discussion (June) re. Heinz Art Metal jewelry, and am wondering if they also signed the larger pieces, ie. vases, lamps, with the same signature. If not, is there a 'tell-tale' sign to look for? Did they use silver over copper? Thanks very much for your time and info. Rea

Yes the larger pieces are signed with a diamond shaped stamp and the the letters HAMS layered inside, with "STERLING ON BRONZE" and a patent date, usually underneath, and maybe a model number above. Their specialty was decorative sterling, in the shape of flowers, vines, sometimes birds etc. layered over a smooth bronze base which was always patinated somehow, sometimes with a mottled green but usually a shade of dark brown.

Do a Google images search for 'Heintz Art Metal' and you'll get a couple pages of thumbnails to click on, for examples

...correct spelling is with a "t" - Heintz
