I have come across these words: Hand Wrought in this crude typeface in Antique stores and on E-Bay. This one actually has a shop mark/symbol above it.

Does anyone know who it is? I always thought that it was a modern fake made recently in Mexico or China. It looks like something that somebody just badly engraved on the back of a piece of copper made to make it look old or special.

I could be wrong. Any ideas?

Bev.

What is this shop mark?

I think it's just a mystery mark. I recall it coming up here before. There's nothing on the oldcopper website for it. It does seem to show up on eBay a fair bit but I don't think the pieces are too exciting. I would guess it's an older mark however, as compared to modern.

Bev,
Stonecat is right.... It is an older mark and a rather prolific maker. We know nothing about the maker though quality is not real high. Perhaps one day we will discover more about the manufacturer of these pieces.

When I have seen these pieces, they have a very high gloss finish and the metal is very thin. The hammering is not as precise or pleasant looking as a Roycroft piece.

Whenever I see it, everyone claims that it is A & C, but then again I am always looking for anything A & C. I ignore everything else.

I am not familar with Gregorian. Do you have dates for that style?

Thanks,

Bev.
