I have a great hammered copper, I guess it would be, chamberstick (my great aunt left me) that I keep wanting to call "Mission" but I'm not sure that'd be correct. I'm pretty sure it would fall under Arts & Crafts though.
I'm not sure why I'm having such trouble with this particular makers mark but I'm throwing my hands in the air and hoping someone here can help me. I did check for this question before and found the following post: Arts & Crafts Copper Bowl - Makers HELP: 'A. ST.' With Bridge&Cross?? but there was no response that I could see. PLEEEASE if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!!! |

Hello Stormy,
First of all welcome to the Arts and Crafts Society and we hope you return often. Now for the candle stick holder I am not familiar with this type of work however maybe Fred Z will come around and give some input on it. The marking is nice and clear and the piece it's self is well done and if you had a pair it would truly set off a sideboard well. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

Thank you very much for the welcome!!
I certainly hope to be a returning member. I'm sure hoping someone will be able to help with the identification of the mark. And I REALLY wish I did have a set of 2 of these!! LOL Stormy/Terri |

Welcome to the forum Stormy and I have never seen this mark before. Let me search my files and see if I can find some reference to this mark.

It's been a little while since my post "PLEEEASE!!! Need help with a maker's mark!!" here and haven't had ANY responses or suggestions about the origin of my mark and I'm starting to panic. ACK!!
This place was my last hope in possibly finding the maker behind the mark. I'm raising my grandson on a sad disability check so can't afford to go out and buy a bunch of books. I do have a fabulous book on silver marks and 2 great ones on porcelain marks that have yet to fail me. Does anyone know of 1 or 2 REALLY good books like that on metalware marks from around this period that I might be able to find used (or new if very affordable) on the net? Also... I think I've checked every site available online but ya never know... I could of missed some. Can any of you please suggest sites that have quite comprehensive mark lists? I'd greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer. SOMEBODY must know something about this mark. Are there any clues like the water, bridge, cross (church or mission?) that can help figure out info about the mark? Thanks so much for your time & trouble...... Terri |

Stormy,
I have not had any luck in identifying your chamber stick. There is not yet a difinitive book on marks out there on copper marks. oldcopper.org is becoming the place to search on the web. Best of luck, Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

Hi ya -
Have you tried the On-Line Encyclopedia of American Silver Marks? http://www.silvercollecting.com/index.html Also Chicago Silver, http://www.chicagosilver.com/marks.htm Your maker may have made things in silver, too, after all! Best of luck Jocelyn |
