Rico,

A very charming matchsafe. Have you examined the underside of the matchsafe that has the colored decoration? Can you tell if it is embosed or applied? If the underside does not have matching depressions where the decoration has height, then it is applied.

Congratulations on your find.

Hello FZ,

I take it that it should be embosed? Does that make it a more desirable piece?

Rico,

If the matchsafe is repoussed and chased (embosed), it would most certainly be more desirable. The condition of the paint on the decoration is a definate plus.
