These are just three of about 8 plates I have picked up around town and also on trips to Pasadena over the past few years. None of them have makers marks but it's all about how it fits in with the arts and crafts genre, and these fit well with my other pieces.

These are great trays. The tray with the trillium decoration in the middle is similar to one I saw on eBay several months ago.

Thanks,

Dano,

Perhaps the first plate in your image is an early unmarked Craftsmen Studios/Inc. piece. I believe that that company employed trillum motifs in their early work.

Below is an image of a 6 inch Craftsmen Studios enamelled tray, No 35. Hammer marks are weak but evident. See the following image for the makers mark and a view of some of the hammer mark. How large is your plate?

I'm not anywhere I can measure it right now but they are all pretty close in size to the Stickley Bros. piece I have maybe a tad smaller at about 6" or just under. I didnt invest a whole lot of money in them but they display nicely dont you think? I grouped them for the camera they display individually normally. I will get you an exact measurment when I get home. Thanks for the bump, we need more action on the metalware forum!

I guess I was a bit off on the measurements, Left to right they measure 7" 7 1/4" and 6 3/4", it is a bit of an optical illusion on the first plate because it appears smaller than the one on the right. I looked again to make sure there were no makers marks, there are none. One thing I noticed though is that it seems more like the trillium design is embossed rather than tooled into the copper. Since I have no other examples of trillium designs I don't know if it's supposed to look like that on the reverse. Do any of you have some images of the back or underside of trillium designs to compare? Until you posted the pic of the border Copperoak I don't recall seeing that design on anything else in my travels. It puts me in mind of teeth on a ratchet I wonder if that was the inspiration for the design...

Hey Dano,

Apologies for my absence. I did some digging into my files and other places and couldn't seem to pull up a nice clean image of a Craftsman Studios-Inc. trillium-trefoil design for comparison. I did find a small image of a pair of Craftsman Studios bookend with a similar design, but the sepals are not the same design as the petals, as seen in your piece. Can you please a image detailing the trillium-trefoil design on your 'rachet' plate.

Below this I've posted an image of a Roycroft style trillium that is tilted 130 degrees for comparison.

Best Regards,

Copperoak
