An ebay Auction: "his wonderful 7.25" diameter x 2" high hammered copper bowl (weighing 12 ozs) by this master coppersmith is in excellent condition (NB: Due to it's unattractive appearance when acquired it demanded that it be carefully cleaned using the most secure and affective boiling vinegar/salt bath method - like most copper it will regain it's most desirable 'antique' patina in very short order)."

BOILING WATER/SALT BATH METHOD??? I was sitting at the computer early yesterday morning, when I found this. The noise that I made when I read the above brought my DH out of the bed to see if I was hurt.

I have to say that this did indeed hurt...

A real crime to see what folks will do to a piece.
