Can anybody identify this hallmark?
Look like S S & Co.

UPDATE: this hallmark is of the S. Sternau & CO
New York

They made silverware and chaffing dishes among other things and are the inventor of the Sterno "heat in a can" that is used to heat up chaffing dishes.

I found this hallmark and you may be able to do the same. At oldcopper.org

Thanks Fred,

I know you already knew this and wanted me to figure this out for myself.

Thanks again,

RiCO,

I have heard of the Sternau company and have never seen their mark. There were so many manufacturers and it is impossible to keep track of all of them. I am thrilled when I can identify the ones I know. This forum and the others like it are helping to spread the knowledge and understanding of these craftsmen and manufacturers. Some good quality and others not.
