There is a set of 10 beautiful mixed metal hammered demitasse spoons with applied cherry and blossoms for auction this week on ebay.
Not my pattern, but I wish I could justify having them... Hammered Demitasse Lauren |

Lauren,
These are good examples of the Japanese influenced Aesthetic Movement when all things Oriental and Mideastern were part of the decor. These are very sought after on the marketplace and they were produced by all the top silversmithing manufacturers such as Tiffany, Gorham, and Whiting. The process of using copper and other alloys in combination with sterling was an imitation of the work that was being produced by the Japanese prior and during the late 19th century. The hammered texture of handwork was accentuated in these American pieces. Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |
