Hello fellow enthusiasts. I've been a lurker here for some months when I can find some time to read. I enjoyed reading about re-patinating (is that a word?) here and I would like to get that done to a Gus oval serving tray I found at a local swap meet, best find I ever had for 4.00. The same tray sold in last Rago auction for over 3200.00 I have no intrest in selling the peice afte rit is done and am not rying to get over on anyone but I would like it restored and I have not the time or expertise to tackle the job. The piece was polished at one time, has many scratches and also some paint drips on it so it may need to be stripped and cleaned then re-done, Any suggestions on who may be able to do this for me and a contact number or email? I've called several places and business must be so good they can afford to pass up calling me back. Any help would be great

Thanks
Dano

The two most common sources for repatination of Arts & Crafts copper items are Michael Adams of Aurora Studios in OSWEGO, N.Y and Michael Ashford of Evergreen Studios in Olympia, Washington.

I am certain there are others. I believe Rago uses Aurora Studios.

I have put a patina on a Stickley oval tray and it does take time and experience to do it properly.

Please post images of your tray now and then when it is restored, post another. We would all like to share in your keen eye and good fortune. What a great buy!

Fred

Thanks Fred,
I will post pics when I have a chance but can't do it from this computer as it's for work only can't send pics on it. I'll try to get my wife to post them. I'm guessing I can go to a website for those places that do the patina? I'll try to find them, when I did a search for sites before I didn't get those names but then I didn't look real hard.

Looking forward to reading more!
