Hello,
I have a copper vase with a mark that I have never seen. Any ideas? It's a bit browner than the photos show.
If the mark was just the initials I would think maybe bench made by some enthusiastic individual, but it also has the chop that appears to be a pitcher with a beak?
Would love to hear some opinions.
Thanks,
Dave

fred zweig will be the best bet to identify it. i'm sure he will be around soon. you might try to message him by looking at his profile.

you might also want to try the yahoo roycroft forum. lots of serious metalheads there.

welcome to the forum. i hope you stay around and visit often. there are generally questions of id on all types of items. i'm sure you can add a lot to that area.

Hi Dave,

This piece is stamped with the COBRE mark and was produced in Santa Clara de Cobre in Mexico by the copper craftsmen there. Here is the link to a previous question about a similar mark.

I suspect if you contact COBRE they may be able to identify the particular maker. Perhaps someone from the Ramirez line of craftsmen.

Fred

Hi Fred,
Thanks, I guess I need to pay attention to some of the contemporary work being produced out there. I am aware of COBRE through ad's but I have ever picked a piece up and looked at it.
