Hello!

I'm new to all this, so here it goes!

I'm looking for any information on Montgomery Ward kit homes. My husband and I live in the house his grandfather built. It is "The Kenwood" and the "manufacturer" was Montgomery Ward. I believe he built the home in the late 20's early 30's. I'd like to see an original blueprint or plan. Any help sending me in the right dirction would be greatly appreciated.

Natalie,

If you could give us a picture, that would be great. I have some Gordon Vantine catalogs that I could look through also. The plans are the same, they just have different names from the Wardway Homes.

We've recently acquired a copy of the 1930 Montgomery Wards house catalog ... no longer called Wardway ... at least I can't find a reference in it. Here's the floor plan of the Kenwood. Identical to the Oriole, except that it has just one bath, not two.

Good Morning Rikki,
Unless we were able to acquire more space on the server for pictures it might be wise to mention that posting pictures on this forum must be done by Photo Bucket or Flickr Photo system. Since they are both free and user friendly it is a snap to get on one of them.

I use Flickr and to get there just keyword www.flickr.com.
Respectfully,

Ralph

Dale and I are finishing up a book on Wardway Homes, that will include floorplans, vintage catalog pages, extant photos and more. It'll be a field guide to the homes offered by Montgomery Ward.

Here's a photo of a beautiful Kenwood in Beckley, WV. Thanks to Sonshine29@hotmail.com for driving me to this house and asking, "So, what is this?" Smile
