We have been told by some in the neighborhood that it is. Can anyone tell me if it is a Sears house and how I'd go about getting the plans for it? The addition on the side is newer.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi. Do you know what year your home was built? We have Sears catalogs from 1916, 1928, and 1935 (too late for your house) and can do a look up if you want. Try getting into the basement or attic and look for marks on the beams or joists. Everything was precut and ready to assemble so had marks to identify parts.

Hello,

Our records show that it was built in 1912 but about half the houses in our neighborhood show that same date, leading some to believe that is the year that they registered the properties. My guess would be between 1906 and 1912.

We are not in the house yet. We get possession on May 25th. I will have a closer look then.

Thanks,
Jason

Where is the house located? Sears was the largest manufacturer of houses but there were other companies scattered throughout the country. A location might help to narrow down the search.

In 1912 Sears offered house plan catalogs from which customers ordered building materials but so did Montgomery-Ward and Gordon-VanTine.

Look around the house for stamped, stenciled, grease pencil or shipping labels. If you find them post the info here and one of the experts might be able to help.
