Hello, I have been told by many people in my small communtiy that my house is a sears home. Some even say they have parents that told them that they remember the house arriving on the railroad, and two have told us they helped built it. We have remodeled several rooms and can not find any proof that it is a Sears home and I can find no photos of the floor plan on-line. Can any one help me? Thank you-Tricia

Looks too early for Sears (Victorian trim, big size) but I'm no expert. The resident expert is Rose T. and she checks in whenever she feels like it, so just keep checking back.

Hi Tricia;
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I do not believe your house is a kit home from Sears. What's more likely is that the pieces and parts and hardware and building materials were ordered from Sears Roebuck. However, in my opinion, the house is not a "Sears Kit House" unless both the building materials and blueprints came from Sears. Rose Thornton author, The Houses That Sears Built |
