Good Morning Friends,
Yesterday I was picked up to go look at a home that was empty and was sold on the auction block and the new owners are wanting to restore it as closely as possible to the original state. I informed the fellow who took me out that a lot of the exterior trim was in the Victorian style and over the front porch was an observation balconey that had a railing that was in a devistating state of neglect. However I informed him that all could be replaced since there were parts that could give me patterns to go by in the restoration. Also the house was of the balloon style of construction with a double wide brick veneer on the exterior of the home all the way around. The walls were easy one foot thick including the balloon style framing.

The home had the built in gutters and would need some extensive repair but for the value of the home after restoration would be worth the money spent.

I know for a fact that this home was used as a stopping point for the underground railroad during the slave railroad era.

It should be registered in the national archives of homes of the period.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones
