Does anyone have the floorplan for the Sears Kit Home, The Lucerne? According to Houses by Mail, it was available from 1908 to 1918.
Any help would be appreciated, as we are trying to find and authenticate the kit homes in Beckley, WV. |

Here is the floorplan for The Lucerne or 264P103, from the 1916 catalog. The House should be 22x33.

Thanks so much. This should make my job a little easier. All I had was the picture.

Lauren,
Thanks for sending the floorplan. I'm not sure if I found one of these or not, as all I had was the picture. So far here in Beckley, WV we have found a Kilbourne, Americus, Sunbeam, Cornell, a few Starlights, an Oak Park, a Van Dorn and some Sears kits that are yet to be identified. We have also found a Liberty home and three Lustrons. We are looking forward to Rosemary's visit in April to help us find even more of these wonderful kit homes. Thanks again for your help. And we also found an Alhambra in Beckley! And a Montgomery Ward Kenwood and even a couple houses from Homebuilders and an Aladdin Pasadena, too!
And we found a whole neighborhood of Magnolias, nothing but Magnolias as far as the eye could see...one after the other. Just kidding. We did find this beautiful Vallonia in a little town next to Beckley. Even the railing is original!! author, The Houses That Sears Built |

Rose, Rose, Rose,
You should NOT tease us with thoughts of an entire neighborhood of magnolias - that is just NOT kind! Donna |

Hello Donna,
LOL, don't you like to see enjoyable homes such as those? Here In London, Ohio we still have several that are in tip top shape because the owners knew what they had. I can or at least could show you five all with in a two block area. I am proud to say that I have spent many an hour helping to restore some of them and help the owners to keep them in good A&C style shape. I keep saying that one of these days I am going to take my camera and get some of our heritage to place in these very forums. Believe me that is my intention for this year to do just that. Respectfully, Ralph http://hometown.aol.com/ralj7/index.htm |
