Hello everyone,
I'm posting this on behalf of my mother. My name is Jenny Abel and my mom, Jeanne, recently inherited the 1929 Collingwood Sears Roebuck kit home that she grew up in - it's located in Cincinnati, OH (Hamilton County/Colerain township). Please see an older aerial view of it and a couple of modern day interior/exterior shots below. Yes, that is Collingwood behind all of the tree and shrubbery growth! The structure itself is sound, but the foundation is in need of repairing. As well, my uncle, unfortunately, did not keep up with cleaning, painting and cutting down the trees, etc. It would definitely be a fixer-upper! My mom fears that it will just be torn down when/if she sells the property. She would love to find someone who appreciates the quality of old Sears kit homes and who might be willing to purchase it at an extremely low cost with the promise that he/she would refurbish/restore and not merely demolish it. I would be really grateful if anyone could point me in a fruitful direction. Thank you so much! Very Sincerely, Jenny Abel |

Wow Jenny-
Great house!!! I'm here in Cincinnati and totally addicted to Sears homes. I don't know if you're looking to sell the house and the contents but if you are there's a local real estate agent and auctioneer, Maggie Beckemeier (splg may be off on her last name) who is fair and hard working and may be worth contacting. She's not related or a friend or anything - I've been going to her auctions for years and my neighbor bought her house thru Maggie. She's Auctions by Maggie, Inc. Wish I was in the mkt for a house - its cool that so much of the house it original. dDonna |

Donna,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my post! I really appreciate it. I'm going to share your suggestion with my mom. Maggie seems like an excellent contact. In the meantime, if anyone has interest or is curious to know more about the home, please feel free to email me at: jennifer_abel [at] yahoo (dot) com Thank you again, Donna. I'm really happy to have stumbled upon this forum! Very Sincerely, Jenny |
