I was watching The Outsiders with my son (he just fininshed reading the book) and The Curtis house from the outside sure looked like a kit house. Then the scenes from inside sure had all the wood and layout of a kit house. I did some research and found it to look just like The Walton....anyone know anything for certain?

Thanks,

Kristen

I'll have to check that out. It seems to me that Will Farrell movie - Ricky Bobby or whatever _ had a Sears Crescent in it but I think it got crashed into! Eek

Well, there's a Pacific Ready Cut Home shown in the movie, Ray. When Ray is escorting his new girlfriend home, they're walking along a tree-lined street in California. The street is filled with 1920s bungalows. At 49 minutes and 49 seconds into the DVD (49:49), they walk past a little white house with a centered front porch and three windows on either side of that front porch. That house is a kit home from Pacific Ready Cut Homes of Los Angeles, a company that (like Sears) sold entire kit homes through mail order.

In 2004, there was an ad for Fanny Mae Mortgages, encouraging people to buy homes and in that ad, they showed a *perfect* Americus in the background. I always wanted to write them a note and ask if they knew it was a Sears Home featured in the ad.

Archie Bunker's house was *not* a Sears Home, despite internet rumors to the contrary.
