Hello to all,

I am new to this forum and trying to identify the model of this house. It was built in 1923 from plans ordered from Sears and Roebuck by my husband's great-grandfather, John R. Smith, who was President of the Raleigh County Court and also owned the Raleigh Dairy Co. in Shady Spring, WV.

We are trying to list this house on the National Register in hopes of saving it when the proposed Z-way widens the road in front of it in the near future. Any help in identifying the model or any other info on how to save this house would be greatly appreciated. My mother-in-law has lived in this house since 1934 and would be devastated if she should have to move now. Thanks in advance for any help.

(Hope the pics are okay)

Sincerely,
Ersela

This is a picture of the Raleigh Dairy Co. Most of the buildings are still standing, although the barn is gone.

Ersela,

The house is a Sears Model named "The Kilbourne"
It was available in the catalog from 1921 to 1929.
Here is the image from our website.

Good Luck to you, saving your Mother-in-law's home.

Thank you so much for the info.

Am I correct in assuming that because they just ordered the plans, not the whole kit, that this is not an actual Sears house?

I am new to all this research and would appreciate any help in getting this listed on the National Register. Anyone out there ever been through the process?

Thanks in advance,

Ersela

Ersela -

It's a Sears house, just not a "kit house".
