Hi there,
I recently started researching my California Bungalow(ette?-it's around 900 sq.ft.) After consulting the local historical society, I've found that my home was built in 1923 by a local builder named H.E. Kane. The original price was listed as $2,500.
There are 3 houses in a row on my block that are nearly identical (except for recent modifications) which makes me think that they may have been catalog/kit homes. I've searched on your site(many thanks!) as well the library for catalogs from the early 1900's up to the 30's (Sears,Aladdin, Wilson, ect.) and haven't yet found the house. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try posting on the American Bungalow forum as well, at ambungalow.com where things are little more focussed on house styles, renovations, etc. and where participation is a little more active than this board. Good Luck.

Keith, can you send me a better picture of the house? Something that shows a little more of the two sides? And I'd love to see the floorplan, if you have it.

I seriously doubt you have a Sears kit home, but it's very possible that you have a kit home from Pacific Ready Cut Homes, which sold 40,000 kit homes in and around California in the early 1900s.
