My home is located in Alton IL. I found an old ad in the attic many years ago advertising a Montgomery Ward kit home, with my homes exact drawing on it. problem is, my home was built as a wedding gift for a woman approx. 1898-1900.
This puts Montgomery Ward out of the runnings, correct? I cannot find any markings on the woodwork in the basement or in the attic. There are palladian windows on the stairway, and the dormer window is a simple shed roof, not a fancy gable (as some i am seeing) any clues or knowledge as to what Im living in, would be sooooo wonderful!
