I am getting ready to purchase a home and the owners claim it is a craftsman, built in 1929 but after hours of searching both the craftsman and alladin sites I find nothing that matches.I may need more pictures than this, but if anyone has ideas or directions for me to look I would appreciate it greatly.

The house in your picture could very well be a Craftsman but there has been so much NON-Craftsman remodeling done that it's hard to really tell. (Or should I say "remuddling.")
It's got the roof line and the dormer that would be typical. You can compare yours with mine. See this post: http://forum.arts-crafts.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3086045532/m/2331065621 bachelor |

yes, has the basic shape, but many generic houses were built in the late twenties early thirtys that kept the shape, but deleted most of the characteristics that identify craftsman.
but on the other hand, it would not be difficult to add the touches you want and bring it right into the style. i was looking at a book yesterday called "bungalow exteriors" by Jane ? that would be a good start as would "bungalow nation", by madsen (?) not sure of either author but i think the titles are right. |
