Hello everyone! My Dad owns an Aladdin Kenmoor built in 1928 outside of Medina, Ohio. It is very close to all original. He's getting ready to move and is interested in the possibility of selling the house without the land. I thought this forum would be a good way of finding out if fellow kit house enthusiasts thought this would be a good idea. I have some pictures if anyone is interested and he's supposed to email me more soon.
Cheers!
Jessica

Several lifetimes ago, I was a Realtor and if I were you, I'd do all I could to market and promote the house as a kit home. Maybe even include a picture (from the Aladdin catalog) on your home's info sheet and have a framed picture from the catalog in your entry foyer.

Interest in this topic is so great, actively marketing it as a kit home has got to be a boon for selling it.

Are you suggesting that the home is to be moved off the property?

In this tight real estate market, putting conditions on the sale of a historic house will make it harder to sell.

Not only do you have a narrower customer base (those that what to buy an Aladdin Kenmore home) but you narrow that pool even more by not selling any land to go with the house. In most parts of the country it is a buyers market. The poor sellers are jumping through hoops to get their property to move.

If your Dad wants to market the house as a buy and move this house transactions, some of the A & C magazines have websites that advertise A & C houses for sale or ads that he could purchase for the back of their magazines. Borders or Barnes and Noble will have a good selection of all the old house magazines.

Good luck.

Bev.
