Fallingwater Rising is about the relationship between Frank Lloyd Wright, EJ Kaufmann (department store giant)and the making of Fallingwater. I am currently reading the book it is excellent so far. An Albert A. Knopf 2003 pub. Borzoi Books. High Reviews!
During the summer I read Devil in the White City by Eric Larson A must read! If you like architectural history, the 1893 Chicago World Fair, murder and mystery all set in the late 1800s. A true story. That took place right here in Chicago in Hyde Park that made it all that more interesting for me. RiCO {added link to book} |

i think you mean franklin toker. he was professor of architectural history and i had him for several classes when i was at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. we went on a field trip to fallingwater (one of many) in one of those classes.
i was back there for a tour this summer. it has recently undergone a major structural renovation and it was very well done. one of the highlights this time was recognizing the tiffany candleholders, a magnificent tiffany lotus lamp and many other art masterpieces. for those who havent been, i highly recommend the trip. |
