How do you get the broken mirror out of a hand mirror that is glued in tight to a hand carved wooden piece...have tried to break it further but it just splinters...needless to say I am not superstitious...

Any help?
Thanx

I am not a woodworker but I would use a heat gun on a very low setting. This should melt the glue or loosen it up enough to pick out the mirror bits with either pliers or tweezers.

Please wear protective gear for your eyes. Depending upon what kind of shape the remaining bit of mirror is in, you might consider wearing leather gloves.

Now with old hyde glue, a heat gun will work. Most of the glues from 1900 to 1924 were animal based. If you are writing about an antique arts & crafts mirror, that should work. If this is a new mirrow with the new synthetic glues, you are on your own. That is not within the scope of this forum.

Good luck and don't get cut.

Bev.
