Hi, I am researching a Handel Mission-style slag glass table lamp that belongs to an elderly friend.

It is stamped "Handel" on the bottom of the metal base.

The original owners, relatives of hers, died in the 1930's, in Ohio. My friend says that they had it as long as she could remember. She thinks it was rewired many years ago. It is in near-perfect condition, except that one of the two pull chains does not work.

The green and white slag glass glows a bright emerald color when the lamp is lit, and the molded amber glass "jewels" are really lovely.

Any information about value, and how I can help her sell it for a good price would be appreciated; she is having health issues and needs the money.

Thanks,

Terri

Ooops, some of my text disappeared under the lamp photo.

Here's what I meant to say:

Hello Terri,
I am afraid that I can't help you with the lamp information but, I just wanted you to know that I am only 25 miles from you as I live in London, Ohio and if you would care to come to London, email me at Ralj7@AOL.com for directions and I know a lady friend who might be able to give you some information on the lamp of your friend.

Oh, by the way welcome to the forums and do drop back often.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones

Thanks, Ralph. That's very kind of you. I'll see when my friend can come along & will contact you about that in a couple of weeks or so.

This is a very interesting forum; love the lamp pictures.

Handel lamps are very fine, collectable and worth quite a lot in today's market. I haven't seen one yet like this one; it's obviously very mission. My guess is that it's worth at least a few thousand dollars. If you put this up on Ebay, I'm sure it would get many, many bids.
