Here's a lamp I just acquired--you may have seen it on Ebay. I could only save four of the hand-painted panels; the rest were torn. I put in alternating mica panels, which I think looks great. This lamp is unsigned, but whoever made it put in a lot of handwork. The shade and base are all hand hammered copper. If anyone has any ideas of a maker, let me know.

The shape is unfamiliar and the twisted and curled wire base are rather unique. I have not seen anything like it before.

Your choice of alternating the panels with mica was excelent and adds much to the lamp appeal.

It is possible we may never find the maker of your lamp since craft like this was practiced by so many unknown makers.

Yes, I figure it was probably made by an unknown artisan. The other panels have similar mountain and water scenes that look Asian. The base is interesting: each of those strands was twisted and hammered individually, which I imagine must have taken a while. I think this one is a keeper, and it ended up costing less than a repro mica shade(!). Soon I will also be posting pics of another Lillian Palmer lamp I purchased recently--nowhere near as nice as the other one, but still cool.

You are right about the shade and I want to congratulate you on your treatment of it. Even if you had replaced all the panels you would have a great lamp.
