I just acquired this lamp( Ebay again! ). It has a bronze base with Chinese motif and a mica shade with nice strap work. Palmer did a number of these lamps, and this one has a nice trumpet shape to the base which I find pleasing to the eye. The others like this I've seen are more angular--there's a number of Palmer lamps on the archives of Rago Arts auction house. Although I like the other Palmer I bought months ago better, I wouldn't have been able to buy this one if I hadn't sold that one(!). If anyone out there is interested in this lamp, you can contact me privately--is it okay to say that? I hope so. At any rate, old lamps really have a presence in a room, and this one is no exception.

Here's a close up of the base...I think this is a dragon perhaps?! Let me know what you think/see.

Palmer did use alot of oriental bronzes and porcelains for bases of her lamps. I would be interested in seeing more of the base without shade and the shade details (underside). I too saw this at the online auction.

I see that someone has placed your lamp on eBay. Is that correct and why would you not send it to Rago? Good luck on your auction.

That was me...I'm just a little impatient. The next auction is March, and it takes another 45 days to get your money. I thought the opening bid was pretty reasonable considering previous auction results. So, I may wait a while and re-list or wait until March and go with Rago. Just having a lamp like that in the house with wild cats and kids makes me nervous. Then again, I don' want to put it away in a closet where I can't enjoy it.
