I ran across this porch light on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageNam...IT&item=280233644494
It looks authentic to my untrained eye. Can anyone confirm its authenticity? I would like to install it on the front porch of my Chicago Bungalow.

BungalowEd,

I had to remove your other post. The image was so large that it didn't load.

About the porch light. I think that the seller is being honest when he/she says it may be from the 1940s. If it were older it would probably have slag glass in it, and it would most likely be all copper and not a mix of steel and brass and copper.

{just an opinion}

OTOH. It doesn't look too bad for $140. Think of what you'd pay at Rejuvenation.

Thanks for your input, Lauren. I guess by authentic I meant not only of the time period specified by the seller, but also the materials that the light is made from. I wasn't sure if there was a cheap veneer someone could use to create the distressed/dented copper look of the light. Based on your response, sounds like you believe it is of sound construction. I'm not concerned about the mix of metals.

Any other opinion would be appreciated.
