ConfusedHi-I have several table runners which are late Victorian/Arts and Crafts. They are a 'liquid' velevet material, rust and earth tones with a tie dye look and long knotted fringe. The problem is that someone spilled a soft drink on one of the pieces. It is not stained with color, however the velevet is matted and needs to be cleaned. Would dry cleaning be recommended or a woolite type haNd wash? I am afraid of the colors running. Thanks in advance!

Hello Curry:
I would NOT let any dry cleaner work on this! Big mistake! Spot cleaning sounds in order here.

If you'd like to call to discuss this problem,
I would be very glad to help you. My phone is
757 259 9400. I can talk to you more in depth
by phone regarding this at no charge for the consultation.

I do know of some ideas for getting the stain out, but do not want to just give you the wrong
"pat" answer. It sounds like you have a very
lovely collection, it needs to be treated with
due respect. Water treatment or dry cleaning
done improperly could ruin it.

Linda
