My husband and I just bought a 1917 Arts and Crafts bungalow. While we are excited to do some restorative work and learn more about the house, we are very sad that ALL of the original molding has been painted over. Before we have a chance to expose the original wood - what color should we paint the trim? To paint it white just seems a shame. Right now it is gray, and looks drab. We are thinking about a brown or beige color..... Thanks for any input.

The arts and crafts colors are based on the Quaternary color scheme. Such as "coral" or "plum".
You use this just like any other color system, complementary, split complementary, triad.

hi we have a 1925 bungalow that we bought in 1998. We have restored the interior and just completed the exterior. We used Sherwin Williams Roycroft Vellum for the trim around the windows and then used Sherwin Williams Andiron(deep green) for the grill work in the widows. The exterior shingles were dipped a Cabot stain called Pepperwood. We found the original shingles hidden under vinyl siding and matched the color. It came out great and matched the rest of the neighborhood.
