I thought I'd put up a few of my favorite stencils from The Alabastine Company circa 1910-1915.

Does anyone have some A&C stenciling in their homes that they'd like to share?

Good Morning Lauren,
Have you priced the stencils of today? They are a heck of a lot higher that when you bought yours but, one thing I like about them is they are plastic and can be wiped clean after each use of when you are done for the day.

In your I like the last one best with the pine cones and needles.

Not stencils, but some nice Bradbury and Bradbury wall paper. We went for a "retro Craftsman" look in our 1997 home.

I have seen the ones for $1.00 more often than the others.

I've always been afraid of trying stenciling, mostly that I'd do an overkill, LOL.

I do love wall paper and will find a reproduction of a landscape mural for the foyer wall going up the stairs on the facing side. I can't wait to do that!

I don't have an A&C home, sort of stuck inbetween house styles, it's a 1912 4-squarish house but the roof has 3 gables, not dormers.

So, I go for anything old I like as far a decor.

Hello Edee,
Having been in woodworking for 60 years now and built many a house, that extra gable that you speak of which is perpendicular to the main part of the house is declared as a dormer even tough it is built over the top plates of the wall it is resting on.

There will be a valley on both sides of the dormer. This does not take away any value of your home but, in some cases it might add to the value of the house.
