Hello, I've got a new "tribute" A&C home. Since buying the home, I have since replaced most of the light fixtures with either genuine antique fixtures, or in some cases, modern reproductions - all in a very traditional honey slag glass / rubbed bronze look. The fixtures I have not been able to change as I have not been able to find replacements have been a number of fairly prominent "spotlights" on a few art walls.
Now, obviously I know that in the time of the A&C movement, there was no such thing as spotlights. However, there must be a manufacturer that makes a spotlight with a more authentic A&C "feel". Can anyone make a recommendation/referral? Thank you sincerely in advance.
I have no referrals for A&C influence spotlights. However, I was wondering if you could use A&C style wall sconces? I don't mean to insult you buy asking, I just thought it would be an easier solution. If this isn't viable, and you can't find A&C style spotlights, you may consider making your own A&C influenced spotlights. Thanks.
Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to the wiring spots and light requirements, I pretty much have to do spotlights in the areas... What is there right now is the only true non-A&C style light fixtures in the house:
One option would be to recess them, I suppose, as long as I can still point them in the right direction.
I'll keep looking around, but let me know if anyone sees anything.
Hello Spender, Not knowing exactlly where the flood lights are located leaves a lot of choices and one would be a box beam suspended from the ceiling and encasing the light in such a manner that the light would not show but still illuminate the area of choice.
Don't know if you're still checking this board, spender, but I had a somewhat similar situation. The room had an ordinary ceiling fixture, but I wanted something more in keeping with the style of the house that would illuminate specific areas of the walls. A company called Bellacor has some mission-styled (more or less) spotlights, but I found one I liked better at, of all places, Lowe's, which is pictured here. Not ideal, but less obtrusive than a modern-style spot.
