I have this little area, kind of recessed and it is to the right of you as you leave the kitchen and enter the den. There is some clock and nick nack there now, but I can't really think of what to do. I already have a coat hanger/key and wallet tray thing behind the main entrance. It seems to want to be something other than just a place to hang pics or be a mirror or whatever, especially since we have both of those in the house already. It is recessed about 7" back and about 2 and a half' wide. Thanks!

PS Ignore the mess in the kitchen, I'm redoing the cabinet doors and tile. I'm not a pig....really.

Welcome to the Arts and Crafts Society forums and we hope that this will not be your only trip.
In regard to the area you speak of, how about some what not shelves? Under the clock and above and below the piece that is on the wall now and then under them you might put a piece of chair rail with waincoting under it to the floor and install a length of base trim.

Just a thought.
