as most of you know, a new record for the highest price paid for a piece of pottery was set last fall for a vase by Frederick Rhead of Santa Barbara Pottery.

before moving to california, he and his brothers Louis and Harry were potters, designers and art directors for both Roseville and Weller. On our way to Pittsburgh several weeks ago, we stopped at the Zanesville Art Center for an exhibit on the Rheads.

apparently, both brothers were also illustrators and printmakers

plus, the center had tons of other roseville, weller, mccoy and others on display. i will include those in a seperate post.

well worth the trip if you are in the area.

For those of us that couldn't make it there, thanks Don. Great shots.
