I have a lovely Weller Pottery Vas in a cream matte background with one green leaf at bottom with reddish brown berries on branch and tree branch. It is wider at bottom and tapers up in a lovely, "soft" way. The design is etched and vase is almost 9 inches tall. Could someone help me in identifying this vase and pattern? If possible I would love to date it as I've had it for sometime. Thank youpatvh314@yahoo.com

Pat,

What a great vase. Pity the image is blurred around the edges. I am not familiar with all the Weller patterns and I suspect the decoration is hand painted and very desireable. Can you post an image of the mark? I love the crackle glaze. Does the design go all the way around?

Fred

..could be a scanner picture..

Here'a a similar Weller pattern from a Rago sale:

...doesn't really give the pattern a name, but gives an idea of value range..

Thank you! It is a "scanner" picture. The design is probably 1/3 around. At least I confirmed it is a "grapevine" design. The mark on the bottom is an imprinted "WELLER" in block letters. I've enclosed a scan of the bottom. Does anyone have an idea how old it may be?
Thanks so much for the picture of something similar. I picked this up at a yard sale a long time ago not even noticing it was a Weller all this time. Mine is definitely a cream background.

My Weller book calls this pattern line, Modeled Etched Matt, and list it as being made about 1910. I hope this helps.

Forgot to add that the book value (if you believe reference book values) for vases of the size that you have is around $300-450. I think I recall vases like yours selling more like in the $125-225 range.
But whatever the price value, you still have a very nice vase.

I just saw a Weller vase--looks like your pattern--at an Antique shop yesterday. He wanted $400 for the tall vase.
