Can someone tell me if it is reasonable to lay 12 inch tiles over an existing ceder porch. The porch has a foundation and is covered by the roof of the house. My thought is to lay thin backer board, thinset, then the tile.
It is 6' x 24'. I would plan to pour the step, which is now ceder, in concrete, before laying the tile.
Any suggestions, hints, and or info will be appreciated. Thanks

You might be better off to put some tar paper down.
Then get some lath wire and put over the tar paper.
Make a sand mix of sand, lime, and cement. (Six sand, one lime, and two cement. If I remember right. Then "float" the whole thing flat. The lime will help keep the mix flexible. Then just mortar the tile down. Or check out your local tile store for some schluter products. http://www.schluter.com/english/products/2002/sectionf/...iew-f/section-f.html
