We leveled the house to the floors and started back up. Outside we kept the same look as we areon the town square.

Inside the idea is to present a home that was updated as indoor plumbing and electricity became available.

There was never a strong Arts & Crafts movement in Poland so we have a mix of US, UK, Dutch and Austrian styles

Down stairs is more or less one large room only real wall is for the bathroom. The fireplace becomes the real room divider. Cellar stairs are behind this.

So here's what we have.

These are all new bricks we collected over four years
Searching junk piles in coal fired brick yards

The builders are very smart and we showed them a ton of photos.

Love the fireplace and the use of clinker bricks in it's making. The Greenes in California used these in many of their homes and gardens. I think they add tremendous character.

Best,

Thank you Fred

I took my wife to as many Greene and Greene homes as I could

I dont think people know what a job it is to make clinkers work well together.

You do know we have coal fired brick plants here and these are the same happy over-cooked bricks as made in the US 100 years ago.

The crafts movement produced wonderful items in the UK, Holland and Austria but nver really here in Poland.

The bricks cost about a dime but it took four years to find enough of them

We tore down an old huse to get our exterior bricks

From my Asian travels over the years we have many items to add.

Subfloor/ceiling of Alder goes in this week. I'll post some more photos as long as people like seeing them.

We still have wonderful workers here. Lots of books to show them

The Masons really got into building the firepace. It was wonderful to see them pick bricks and some rock.

Keep the pics coming! I like seeing them and am glad to see and hear that Arts and Crafts are alive and well in Poland!
