While updating the kitchen in my Aladdin 1921 Wabash house I found a 1921 penny in the wall. I didn't think much of it at the time but have since heard that it was or is a custom when building. Anyone heard of this?

Never heard of the penny, specifically. I know builders often put a variety of stuff in walls and other places. I found a beam in an isolated location in my basement where the builder stamped his name--I heard that was pretty common. Anybody else seen this before? See attached.

I've heard of the penny in the wall! LEAVE IT IN THERE!! Trust me. I've not seen the stamped beam, but that is cool.

Thanks, The 1921 penny is not in there but I do still have it. As for the stamped beam I have not seen it neither but I like to write a little note somewhere in the wall when I alter or update something. Wabash
