Hi. I have been researching any appropriate awnings that will fit with the craftsman style of my 1918 Buffalo home. I am considering copper. I would like something in keeping with the style, yet I cannot find ANY info on awnings for this period. If I really didn't need one, I'd leave it off. But one must be there for sunny side of house. Any ideas??

Several of the kit homes of that era had awnings made of wood, such as the Sears Roanoke. The awning on this home was a solid piece of wood slightly angled (like a shed dormer) and the top of the awning was finished with roofing shingles. The heavy piece of wood was held in place with brackets that matched brackets under the eave.

Thanks, Rosemary. I know what original awnings would have looked like for my home (but I don't think they were ever over this particular window). I just thought there would be another alternative out there that would be appropriate to replace the aluminum one that is currently in place. I came across the copper idea on-line. Hand crafted and beautiful. My search continues! Thanks again, Annette
