I'd like to put burlap inbetween the styles of our tall mahogany wainscotting. I'm a carpenter with no wallpapering experience. How does one apply burlap to a wall? Thanks in advance.

Go to a commercial paint store and buy some clear heavy-duty wall covering paste. If you are hanging burlap, you will probably see through it so paint the wall with some color that will look right when you see through the burlap. Precut the burlap one-inch or so bigger hope you don’t have to seam it.
then with a 1/2" nap roller brush and roll the paste on and just slap the burlap on and smooth it out with a wall paper brush ( about12" wide ). Then take a razor and a plastic smoother and trim the edges. If you have to seam it email me @ Seabro@netins.net (hung commercial wall covering 18 years)

Hello Shawn,
I concur with Sean and if you do have any seams I am pretty sure he will tell you to over lap by about 1" and then use a straight edge plumbed over the two pieces and cut through both pieces and remove the piece that runs underneath and the seam will mate together well.

Respectfully,
